NEW BEDFORD, MASS. – July 9, 2006 –
Schaefer Marine, located at 158 Duchaine Blvd. in
New Bedford, Mass., announced today that they have
developed a new and unique Transom Door Latch.
“What differentiates our door handle from
others is that it can easily be opened with one
hand,” said Fred Cook, President of Schaefer
Marine. “This is because of the unique trigger
opening mechanism that we have designed. It can
be helpful for getting in or out of the door quickly
if you have something in one hand. This is particularly
important when helping someone back aboard or
when you need to retrieve something from the water.
For fisherman, it also helps get water out of
the cockpit quickly after backing down on a fish.”
Schaefer’s Transom Door Latch is designed
with a mold pattern identical to most products
currently on the market. Marketing research has
shown that this is a highly desired convenience
feature because other door latches can be replaced
without having to drill new holes. In addition,
it is made entirely of electro polished 316 Stainless
Steel, unlike some other models that have plastic
pull pins that can easily break. It will be available
September 1, 2006.
