March, 2005 - - New Bedford, MA - - Schaefer Marine
announces a significant evolution in the design
and appearance of cleats and chocks for the marine
industry. Long ignored from a design standpoint,
Schaefer introduces innovations that were designed
based on extensive research among boat builders.
Both the chocks and cleats have hidden fasteners
that mount through backing plates below deck and
are made of the highest quality polished stainless
steel. Plus they have a large round recessed bedding
area around each fastener to assure a watertight
seal.
The
new line of chocks feature a deep opening to accept
chafe gear while the narrow jaw keeps lines in
place. A thick base keeps lines off the surrounding
deck and generous radius edges minimize chafe
and lengthen line life.
The new line of cleats has a wide foot to spread
load and provides a large throat to allow loops
to feed through easily. They also feature a large
leg diameter to prevent line pinching. Like the
chocks, they also have generous radius edges to
reduce line chafe.
These
new chock and cleat products continue Schaefer’s
innovative thinking as also evidenced recently
by the introduction of its patented Boom Furling
System.
